Northwestern Indiana police say a woman could face animal cruelty charges after authorities removed 82 dogs from her rural home over a two-day period.

Animal control officers and Porter County deputies removed 27 dogs
Thursday from the home for veterinary evaluations. The day before
they removed 55 dogs, using four trucks that made multiple trips to
the Chesterton-area home.

Sheriff's department spokesman Sgt. Larry LaFlower says authorities obtained a search warrant Tuesday for the home after neighbors said they feared the dogs' waste around the home was getting into their drinking water.

LaFlower says homeowner Donna Montoya could face animal cruelty
charges once animal control officers complete their report.

Montoya says she takes care of her dogs and feeds them every day.

i hope this lady gets help for her hoarding. caring for pets entails much more than feeding. usually the animals are in such bad shape most have to be put down. why didnt the neighbors call sooner? those animals have been suffering!
