College Football HOF Enrshrinement Rib Cookoff

Postby Kent Hizer » Wed Jul 11, 2012 1:53 pm

For those interested, our BBQ team will be competing again this year in the Professional Divison of the College Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Rib Cookoff. It will be Friday July 20th. It runs from 11 to 11. My team is called The River City Butt Rubbers. If you get a chance come by and say hi. You can even use your secret squirrel SBF name so your cover will not be blown.

We will be serving spare ribs (Memphis style), pulled pork and watermellon slices. We also have on more secret item we will reveal the day of the event. (Think California BBQ). Last year we served over 700 people. We hope to better that this year.

You might even see Jeff Dean competing in the amature division as he did last year.

Hope to see you there.

From what I hear, if you have a note from your doctor, the State of California will let you include a "secret ingredient" in the BBQ sauce.

Dont know if that would make it taste better, but am sure that you will sell a lot more of it.

I may set up a Cheetos and sno-cone stand on my sidewalk in that case.

See, they need to have it in Niles!

Not that I would have any personal experience or anything, but what you do is simmer the secret ingredient in butter that you use in the sauce... After it has simmered you strain the butter through cheesecloth.

Tri-Tip is it! BDCBBQ is a man who knows his Q.

On the other hand, my good friend Bob is still the wise guy.

The secret is out. I wanted to offer something a little different as every one will have ribs and pulled pork.

We made some practice runs recently and it came out great. No need to sauce it. it stands on it's own.

It looks like a lot of big time out of town teams again this year with the $100k set-ups.

I will be there with my home made rig belching smoke and slinging ribs.

Hope to see some of you there.

Kent,

I have more than a little knowledge about BBQ.
