A Model to Emulate

President Truman’s leadership highlights an important paradigm . . .

As WWII was coming to an end, America faced an invasion of Japan. Various planning experts agreed that over one million lives would be lost when the Japanese defended their homeland. Harry S. Truman made the decision to drop the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan on August 6, 1945. Japan was then invited to surrender. When Japan refused to surrender, a second atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki three days later, on August 9, 1945.

To get Japan to surrender and return the world to a temporal peace, President Truman showed Japan what Hell looks like.

Japan quickly surrendered.

Instead of losing a million lives, only about 200,000 lives were lost. President Harry Truman saved the lives of about 800,000 people.

That paradigm: A majority of the wicked will turn from their ways when they are shown what Hell looks like.

During a Harrisburg, IL speech, a supporter yelled out "Give 'em Hell, Harry!". Truman replied, "I don't give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them and they think it's Hell."
