Liberal Gun Control

The truth you won't hear from the media

The stats prove it: Gun-free zones don’t work.

It is apparent that gun-free zones do not work to effectively curb gun violence. If you do not believe me, then take a look at the Virginia Tech massacre, the two Fort Hood mass shootings, the recent shooting at Seattle Pacific University, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the shooting in the Perry-Castaneda Library and many others. They each took place in a gun-free zone. The reality is that gun-free zones only do one thing: They disarm law-abiding citizens, specifically concealed handgun license holders.

Backdoor gun control: D.C. sets impossible hurdles for carry permits
Permit seekers face costly fees, lack of approved instructors for mandatory course

The District’s newly minted concealed carry laws require gun owners seeking permits to complete 18 hours of firearms training.

One problem: As of Wednesday, the day before a court-ordered deadline for the permitting process to begin, no instructors had been approved to teach the compulsory course.

The disparity is emblematic of the city’s reluctant scramble to comply with the July order that overturned the District’s ban on carrying handguns in public.

The Metropolitan Police Department, working off legislation adopted by D.C. lawmakers last month, released the concealed carry applications on its website at about 7 p.m. Wednesday — hours before the stay of U.S. District Court Judge Frederick J. Scullin Jr.’s order was set to expire.

The regulations firm up the details of the application process, including establishing a $75 cost to apply for a permit.

But it’s unlikely anyone will be walking out of police headquarters with the license anytime soon.

Police officials said a solicitation to firearms instructors was not issued until Monday for the course, which involves 16 hours of classroom safety training and two hours of proficiency training on the gun range.

Several firearms instructors who are certified to train security guards have told the department that they are working to develop courses to satisfy the concealed carry application requirements, police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said.

“Once they submit their applications, we will quickly process their applications,” she said.

George Lyon, a firearms instructor and one of four gun owners involved in the court case that overturned the D.C. ban on carrying guns in public, said a $435 certification fee might discourage some trainers from applying.

“This is another example of them making the process as difficult and expensive as possible,” Mr. Lyon said.

He said he has not decided whether to pursue approval by D.C. Metropolitan Police as an instructor. “It’s definitively an inhibition. Maryland does it for nothing, and D.C. has to charge $435?”

It’s also unclear exactly how soon firearms instructors would be needed.

The training class would not be required until Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier decides whether a legal gun owner has demonstrated a “good reason” to carry a firearm. The regulations say the investigative process to qualify for permits could take 90 days or longer for gun owners to demonstrate that they are targets of specific threats.

Similarly, the city has yet to appoint members to the Concealed Pistol Licensing Review Board, which will hear appeals from gun owners who are denied permits by the chief.

Continued from page 1

“The mayor and other appointing officials have been actively assembling the review board, and its members will be announced very soon,” said Doxie McCoy, a spokeswoman for Mayor Vincent C. Gray. “The panel will be in place when it is needed.”

Applicants who are approved will have 45 days to complete the required training course. Some applicants, based on their experience, may be able to apply for exemptions from most of the training requirements.

The police department wouldn’t estimate how long the process might take from start to finish, though Ms. Crump noted that in Maryland — which has many similar requirements — it takes 60 to 90 days.

Lawmakers have estimated that hundreds of people might be able to qualify for concealed carry permits. About 3,300 handguns have been registered in the District since the Supreme Courtoverturned the city’s near total ban on gun ownership in 2008.

Concealed carry permit holders will be prohibited from taking guns into sensitive locations such as schools and government buildings, or within 1,000 feet of demonstrations or public dignitaries.

But the regulations publicized Wednesday also stipulate that Chief Lanier “may limit the geographic area, circumstances, or times of the day, week, month, or year in which a license is valid or effective.”

Gun owners say the laws are too restrictive and that they intend to challenge the regulations on the basis that they do not comply with Judge Scullin’s order to adopt a “licensing mechanism consistent with constitutional standards enabling people to exercise their Second Amendment right to bear arms.”

Alan Gura, a lawyer representing the plaintiffs in Palmer v. District of Columbia, filed a motion this month asking the judge to block implementation of the law. A hearing is scheduled for Nov. 20.

Mr. Lyon said he may wait until after the outcome of that hearing to try to pursue a concealed carry permit.

“I don’t want to go through a useless act,” he said.

Typical: Anti-Second Amendment Lawmaker Arrested With a Gun… While Drunk.

October 23, 2014 By Todd Cefaratti

The mindset of modern liberalism is one of “do as I say, not as I do.” Though we hear so much from the left about supposed tolerance, the left is remains a bastion of intolerance against those ideas they find unfavorable.

Similarly, many of the nation’s top anti-Second Amendment crusaders rely on the Second Amendment for their own protection while working diligently to deny other Americans the same protections.

Michael Bloomberg, for instance, travels the country while preaching about the evils of armed citizens while comfortably surrounded by an armed security detail.

In Missouri, one Democrat lawmaker has been revealed to be a hypocrite as she was recently arrested while reportedly drunk and armed with a 9mm handgun and a spare magazine despite having sponsored several anti-Second Amendment efforts.

Missouri State Senator Jamilah Nasheed is a Democrat who has sponsored several anti-Second Amendment pieces of legislation. This week, the gun-grabber was arrested when she remained in the middle of the street and refused to leave or take a breathalyzer since she, according to police, “smelled strongly of intoxicants.”

When police searched Nasheed, they discovered that she was carrying a 9mm handgun and a spare magazine of ammunition.

Nasheed has claimed that she was not drunk, but that she got arrested to show solidarity with protesters who continue to rant about the shooting death of Michael Brown. Nasheed called the arrest a “message to the protesters that we can protest peacefully and that we must protest peacefully and that we want justice for Michael Brown.”

Nasheed claims that she is a concealed permit holder.

Of course, there is nothing inherently illegal about being drunk and legally carrying a concealed firearm. However, as Nasheed has pushed legislation that violates the rights of other Missouri citizens, including a bill that would have made it mandatory for parents to inform schools if their children are in a house with a firearm, her willingness to embrace her Second Amendment freedoms is certainly hypocritical.

SECOND AMENDMENT CRUSHES GUN CONTROL CANDIDATES IN MIDTERM ELECTIONS

Image
by AWR HAWKINS 4 Nov 2014 60 POST A COMMENT

As the election returns came in on November 4 one thing was evident—the Second Amendment crushed gun control candidates in Senate and gubernatorial races around the country.
In so doing, the Second Amendment annihilated the left's relentless claim that 90 percent of Americans support more gun control.
On the gubernatorial level, in Arizona, pro-Second Amendment candidate Doug Ducey (R) beat gun control candidate Fred DuVaul (D). And in Florida, pro-Second Amendment incumbent Rick Scott (R) beat gun control candidate Charlie Crist. These victories were enhanced by the fact that Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly endorsed DuVal and Giffords' gun control PAC gave $100,000 to Crist's campaign.
The Second Amendment trumped their endorsement and their money.
In Texas, NRA-endorsed gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott (R) won. In Maryland, NRA-endorsed gubernatorial candidate Larry Hogan (R) won. In Alabama, NRA-endorsed Governor Robert J. Bentley (R) won. In Wisconsin, NRA-endorsed Governor Scott Walker (R) won. In Michigan, NRA-endorsed Governor Rick Snyder (R) won. In Nevada, NRA-endorsed Governor Brian Sandval (R) won. In Ohio, NRA-endorsed Governor John R. Kasich (R) won. In Oklahoma, NRA-endorsed Governor Mary Fallin (R) won. In Wyoming, NRA-endorsed Governor Matt Mead (R) won. In Idaho, NRA-endorsed Governor Bruce Otter (R) won. In Kansas, NRA-endorsed Governor Sam Brownback (R) won. And in Maine, NRA-endorsed Governor Paul R. LePage (R) won against gun control candidate Michael Michaud (D). (On August 8, Breitbart News reported that Michaud was supported by Gabby Giffords.)
In Senate races, gun control Senator Mark Udall (D-CO) was defeated by NRA-endorsed Cory Gardner (R) and gun control Senator Kay Hagan (D-NC) was defeated by NRA-endorsed Thom Tillis (R). In Kansas, NRA-endorsed Senator Pat Roberts (R) won. In Georgia, NRA-endorsed Senatorial candidate Bill Perdue (R) won. In Arkansas, NRA-endorsed Tom Cotton (R) won. And in West Virginia, NRA-endorsed Shelly Moore Capito (R) won, marking the first time that state has sent a Republican Senator to Washington DC in over five decades.
The spotlight was also on the race between NRA-endorsed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and pro-gun control challenger Alison Grimes (D). McConnell won handily.
NRA-endorsed Senatorial candidate Joni Ernst (R-IA) also won.

On November 3—the day before the elections took place—Breitbart News reminded red state and pro-Second Amendment voters to vote like their guns depended on it. They did. And as result, the Second Amendment won the day, Republicans won the Senate, and gun control took a beating.

North Carolina gun shop’s ad banned on Facebook
POSTED 9:19 PM, NOVEMBER 15, 2014, BY WEB STAFF,

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A North Carolina gun shop recently posted an ad on Facebook – but it was taken down almost immediately, according to WSOC-TV.

The Hyatt Gun Shop in Charlotte recently posted the ad online for a Veterans Day sale on safes and vaults.

Owner Larry Hyatt told WSOC-TV the ad was posted because the store didn’t feel like it violated Facebook’s policy on banning ads for weapons.

Facebook said ads cannot indirectly link back to pages where guns can be purchased.

The social media giant said the ad violated the policy and wrote, “The decision is final. Please consider this the end of our correspondence about your ad.”

A WSOC-TV reporter has tried to get in contact with Facebook to clarify, but has not heard back.

The ad reads, “Shop Online and choose from the area’s largest selection of safes and vaults… on sale now through November 15!” An image of the ad is provided above.

“Amongst all other things we do, (social media is) absolutely necessary to small business. Without it we couldn’t do the business we do,” Hyatt said.

Liberals Set Up A Fake Gun Store In NYC, The Reason Why Is BEYOND Disturbing

Hannah Bleau

Image

Liberals are truly beyond parody. The anti-gun group States United to Prevent Gun Violence set up a fake gun store in New York City literally just to shame potential gun buyers.

When potential customers came in the shop, the clerk showed them the weapons and used the crimes associated with them as “selling points.”

The video opens up with the caption, “In fact, owning a gun increases the risk of homicide, suicide and unintentional death.”

Yeah. So does owning a knife or a car, but you don’t see people banning that.

For example, to describe an AR-15, the clerk said “20 little kids, gone like that.” (He also conveniently forgot to mention that the whole Sandy Hook massacre occurred in a gun free zone, but I digress.)

One woman walked in and asked to see an “easy to use” firearm. The clerk grabbed a .22 revolver and said, “[This] is the easiest gun we have to use. It’s our most popular one… It’s also a gun that 5-year-old found in his parents bedroom, went down and shot his 9-month-old baby brother with it.”

They basically had a story for every weapon. The stories were intended to dissuade people from purchasing a firearm and convince them that guns are scary and eeeeeevil.

The NRA released this statement:

“It’s appalling that the gun control lobby exploits tragedy to further a political agenda. This video reveals their true agenda, which is to ban guns. If gun safety was their main concern they would use their resources to educate people about the safe and responsible use of firearms instead of producing expensive videos to scare people and spread lies.”

The video as a whole is pretty despicable, but something funny is coming out of it. The producer of the video may be under investigation for violating state and local laws.

From Guns:

The New York State Rifle and Pistol Association is calling upon state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to investigate the producer of the video for potential violations of state and local laws.

“First off, the firearms and accessories hanging in the background do not appear to comply with either New York City law or the so-called SAFE Act,” said NYSRPA President Thomas King in a statement.

“Second, it felony violation of the Sullivan Act for a person to posses a handgun anywhere in New York without a license. The video clearly shows individual ‘customers’ handling various handguns and doing so in an unsafe manner,” King said.

Nevertheless, I think these obnoxious liberals were on to something. Gun stores should start tagging success stories to their corresponding firearms.

I can see it now.

“Yep, this 20 gauge shotgun is so easy to use, a 14-year-old boy stopped a home intruder and saved his baby sister while home alone.”

“This is an AR-15. It’s the civilan model of an M-16 which is what Marines use when they’re fighting jihadists. Cool huh?”

“Oh yes. The Sig P230. This is the same handgun a young female college student used to fight off her potential rapist in a dark Walmart parking lot.”

Sounds like a plan to me.
