Another Example of Local Government Subterfuge

Ms. Jessica Clark, County Engineer:

You were quoted by Erin Blasko in the South Bend Tribune that hook-up to the Granger sewer system will cost $1,500. As County Engineer and Chairman of the County Sewer Board, you knew that this cost will actually be at least ten times that amount. But you correctly judged that resistance to forcing Granger citizens to pony up $15,000 to $20,000 would be stiff, so you elected to lie about the true cost.

You stated to an overflow audience at a public comment meeting that “there are no plans” to expand your Phase 1 of this project to include all of Granger. Given the track record of City and County government, only the most gullible citizens give your assertion any credence. Local government has assumed the arrogant attitude that citizens have a low intelligence quotient and, fortunately for us, the font of all wisdom is resident in you and your colleagues. Given City and County governments’ history of cramming what the citizenry don’t need and don’t want down our collective throats, Granger residents naturally conclude that expansion of the Granger sewer will include all of our community. This eventuality has been conspired, and the fix is in.

When confronted with the choice of telling the truth or lying, you elected to lie to the public because you correctly judged that if all of the truth about your sewer plan were known, there would be zero public support.

Using dishonesty to gain advantage is known as “cheating”. Consummating an arrangement and then unfavorably altering the conditions originally agreed upon is known as “bait and switch”. Since you are a public servant, you obviously believe that you can flaunt fundamental morality and decency with impunity. You and your fellow Democrat ilk must routinely lie because the preponderance of the public would never support your Socialist agenda.

Decisions made in private have public consequences. And all County citizens suffer negative consequences from your absence of character. The corruption you and your crowd practice is a magnet, attracting criminal and anti-social behavior. Half of county residents are forced through taxation to pay over $25,000,000 every year to manage high criminal activity in our community. Then there is the over $1,000,000 the City and County collectively spend for economic development that achieves no development. Industrial corporations seeking to site operations bring with them pearls of great value – high-paying jobs. And these companies are loathe to come here where that value is not appreciated – in an ancient vernacular, to “cast their pearls before swine”.

The other half of county residents is condemned to perpetual impoverishment and the victimization of pervasive crime. When offered the choice of either the poverty that you and your Democrat colleagues promise, and the prosperity of an alternate course, they vote for continued corrupt government. Being convinced that they can support wicked leaders and escape consequences, you and you Socialist crowd welcome these as useful idiots. Our local government does not have to take a back seat to any other – we have the most crooked government officials that money can buy off.

The citizens are disappointed that when you were presented the choice of dealing forthrightly with the folks, or deceit, you chose the role of a liar.

The citizens are disappointed that you elected to be a cheat.

St. Joseph County Democrats deserve punishing taxation, poverty, and ruinous crime since they have had every opportunity to know the destruction they blindly support. They bring down upon themselves their own destruction by asking at the ballot box for Democrat candidates who carry the promise of high taxation, high poverty and high crime.

But the remainder of citizens in this county deserve better.

If you have a "Plan 1" then there must be, at least, a "Plan 2." If there are no other plans, then you simply have "the Plan."

II am curious where and when jessica said it would cost 1500 to hookup. That doesn't sound right at all. I am not sure how entrenched she is. I do know she is competent in her position from what I have seen.

County engineer Jessica Clark said if the county council passes the ordinance at its October 6 meeting, they hope to have the sewer system under construction by the spring of 2012. The health department also wants to have a sewage treatment plant serving the older Granger neighborhoods within 5 years.

WSBT also looked into how much it will cost people in the State Road 23 and Bittersweet Road area to hook up to and use the proposed sewer system.

Clark said the few homeowners in the area would pay $1,500 to connect and about $85 a month to use the system. Businesses would pay anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 to connect, depending on how big they are and how much they would use the system. It would cost those businesses between $85 and $3,000 in monthly sewer bills.
