WSBT First Alert Weather: Record-breaking rain causes flood damage

Frightening images of flood damage are coming out of South Bend.// WSBT 22 photo

A FLOOD WARNING in effect through Tuesday. Many of you will be waking up to significant flood damage this morning.

A record-breaking 10 inches of rain has fallen in some locations, and showers are still going around the region.

Many roads are impassable, several cars were submerged and dozens of rescues took place overnight. In addition, countless reports of flood damage to basements, and even some basement foundations collapsed. We're told two families in South Bend have been displaced, but were not hurt.

There were around 150 police calls overnight in South Bend.

Stay away from ANY flooded roads, and those of you that live in low-lying areas need to keep a close eye on the water level. Within the next few days, river levels will start to rise.

We will have the latest information on WSBT 22 News at Midday.
