Hardy Blake, a Negro, was arrested in the parking lot after a white youth
reported his tires slashed.
Blake was deprived of the box opening tool, a device incorporating a razor blade, and
charged with malicious trespass and disorderly conduct.
Patrolman Paul Locsi reported that Gladys Lee Clark, 22, objected to the arrest and
began fighting the officers with her fists and a piece of auto grill.
A crowd of 50 to 100 gathered and began throwing stones and bricks.
