Woman in 'extremely critical' condition after shooting on Michigan Street

NOW: Woman in ’extremely critical’ condition after shooting on Michigan Street


Around 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, police began removing crime scene markers from Michigan Street.


SOUTH BEND, Ind. — South Bend Police are investigating a shooting early Wednesday morning that left a woman in critical condition.

Police responded to the scene just after 3 a.m. for the incident in the 2100 block of South Michigan Street, near Donald Street.

Two people, a man and a woman, were injured in the shooting.

The woman suffered "extremely critical" injuries and the male was treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

At last check with police, a supervisor said that the woman was placed on life support.

Just before 5 a.m., the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit was called to the scene of the shooting.

Officials have not released any information on a potential suspect.

2 injured in South Bend bar shooting; victims identified

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A woman is in critical condition and a man was injured after a shooting at a South Bend bar Wednesday morning.


Police were called to Ripples Bar in the 2100 block of Michigan Street at around 3 a.m.

Carrie Jameson, 32, remains in the hospital in critical condition as of early Wednesday afternoon.

Salmen Johnson, 28, was treated for his injuries and released.

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit (CMHU) was activated, per protocol, to handle the investigation.

No suspects have been taken into custody as of early Wednesday afternoon.
